Puckduction

Our mission:

Our mission is to support marginalized creators, educators, and activists with a focus on BIPOC,  LGBTQIA+, People with Disabilities, and People of Size. We use art & culture to activate spaces, build community, and provide financial compensation for marginalized performing artists.

For Current Puckduction and Co/Production Projects:

Our flagship event is

What the Funk?! An All BIPOC Burlesque Fest that we co-produce with the Stay Up Late Show, yearly, at The Triple Door in downtown Seattle. Now heading into our fourth year, What the Funk's mission is to pay tribute to the Black American music genre of Funk while showcasing and honoring the artistry of Black, Indigenous and performers of color through the often overlooked performance art medium of Burlesque. We celebrate performers locally, nationally, and internationally through our three day festival. We hope to inspire, offer representation, and shine a spotlight on the creativity and talent found in the BIPOC Burlesque community.

Over the past years we have put over 100 BIPOC artists on stage and have served over 3,000 audience members. What the Funk returns August 24-26, 2023. Our documentary, What the Funk: A Love Letter to the POC Community, had it's World Premiere on October 13, 2023 at the 27th Seattle Queer Film Festival.

Our newest festival

Fatlesque Fest Northwest (FFNW) sold out in 2023. We will be coming back January 4-6, 2024. Fatlesque Fest Northwest is on a mission to disrupt perceptions surrounding burlesque while providing an art, culture, and entertainment experience through a fat liberation and body positive lens.

Our first Conference is Coming!

Fat Con is a one-of-a-kind event and conference coming January 5-7, 2024.
Fat Con Seeks to improve the lives of Fat Humans through art, health, public policy and community outreach. By improving visibility and uplifting the voices of people of size, we don't seek acceptance, we seek Fat Liberation. Featuring 30+ workshops, panels, fashion shows, size-inclusive vendors, and more!

Our Puckduction Partners

Seattle Pride

We coordinate and promote LGBTQIA+ pride events in the Seattle area—celebrating the present, envisioning the future, and honoring the past. As a non-profit organization, sponsorship and donations are used to offset expenses required to produce the year-round celebrations. We also strive to give back to the community through our Grants & Sponsorship Program. Since 2017 we have proudly disbursed $230k in funds to an array of local organizations!

Sharpe Suiting

"Since 2013, Sharpe has been helping brave individuals showcase exactly who they are. We know being yourself isn’t easy, so we are here to help you feel like you. On your wedding day, at work, or just having fun – we fit you."

Sergius & Bacchus

Sergius & Bacchus is bringing brave, bold, remarkable clothing to Seattle. Fashion-forward brands of the highest quality. Mid-priced casual wear and masculine designs. Styles that can easily flow and translate from the laid-back offices of a start-up to the hottest happy hour spots on Capitol Hill – all while making heads turn from the chic trendy looks. Specializing in emerging brands that are entirely new to the Seattle market, and brands that are hard to find. Sergius & Bacchus is gay-owned, and proud that more than 75% of the brands we partner with are LGBTQ+ owned – and in several cases, we are one of only a handful of retail outlets anywhere in the world showcasing these talented queer designers. Further, we also strive to provide plus sized clothing in as many of our brands and styles as possible.

Powered by Shunpike

What does this mean?

It means we are fiscally sponsored by Shunpike. Fiscal sponsorship is a contractual relationship between a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and a group or individual whose activities fall within the sponsoring organization’s mission. Guess what? Puckduction falls under Shunpikes mission!

That means Shunpike helps us with:

Management of tax receipts for donations

Fundraising eligibility and support

Provide online and event fundraising platforms

Full-cycle bookkeeping

Tax assistance

Full administrative and consulting service

That also means all sponsorships, including in-kind donations, are tax-deductible!
