5,6,7,8: Bumping to the Beat

We will spend 75 minutes practicing counting out beats and moving to them in classic big brass burlesque music. This class is intended to be an introduction to dancing to counts for people who are curious about counting, tempo variance and would like to incorporate it into burlesque choreography. We’ll identify the differences between dancing to lyrics and counts, explore how to count out a beat, how to move to varied tempos in 8 count choreography and dance to 8 counts in burlesque choreography together, putting theory into practice.

Learning objectives:
In 5,6,7,8 participants will learn how to distinguish 8 counts in a piece of music. Participants will apply counting to beginner burlesque choreography. Participants will discover how to move to different tempos in one 8 count of choreography.

Participants must bring clothes and footwear that is comfortable for them to move in and a water bottle
