Becoming Your Own Muse with Judas Saint James (IN PERSON 11/1)
Becoming Your Own Muse with Judas Saint James (IN PERSON 11/1)
Becoming Your Own Muse is about using stories and art from mythology and folklore all over the world to help empower students to harness their own individuality/divinity to create their stage personas.
A muse is a person, force, or source of inspiration that sparks creativity and the nine Muses of Greek mythology were goddesses of divine inspiration for artistic expression. This class aims to help students develop their stage personas by exploring myths and folktales across various cultures that uplift sexuality, gender diversity and disability.
Stories will also intersect with burlesque and queer history to provide cultural context and relate to practical application in the creative process.
The workshop is divided into 2 segments:
Part 1 is an informal story telling session with affirmation exercises and group discussions.
Part 2 will be a stage presence/ audience interaction exercise to help students practice embody their stage persona.
